Accessibility statement

PRTPO's goal for this site and its documents is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

What is built in

  • Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring and a skip link to the main content.
  • Headings, landmarks, and form labels are structured for screen readers, and every page has its own descriptive title.
  • Text and background colors meet a 4.5 to 1 contrast ratio.
  • Every informative image has alternative text, and decorative photos are hidden from screen readers.
  • Links say where they go and name the file type, and nothing opens in a new tab unexpectedly.
  • The site respects your device's reduced motion setting.

The accessibility button

The round button in the lower right corner of every page opens accessibility options. You can open it with your mouse, by tabbing to it, or by pressing Alt + A. Your choices are saved in your browser.

  • Profiles: one tap presets for screen reader users, keyboard navigation, vision impaired, seizure safe, ADHD friendly, and cognitive disability.
  • Read aloud with read along: the page is read to you, and each sentence is highlighted as it is read so you can follow along. Choose the speed and voice.
  • Text: larger text, line spacing, letter spacing, a readable font, and text alignment.
  • Color and contrast: dark, light, and high contrast modes, low saturation, and monochrome.
  • Reading aids: a reading guide, a reading mask, a magnifier, highlighted links and headings, and a large cursor.
  • Distractions: stop animations, hide images, and mute sounds.

On PRTPO's live site, this button would be delivered through accessiBe's accessWidget, configured and kept current by Evolve. The button adds options for visitors. It supplements the accessible build and does not replace it.
