About PRTPO
Regional Transportation Planning Organizations are state-designated entities with responsibilities established in RCW 47.80 (external site). PRTPO is responsible for ensuring ongoing coordinated transportation planning among its members and identifying long-range issues or opportunities affecting the region.
PRTPO was first established in 1990, under the administration of WSDOT Olympic Region. In 2019, PRTPO was redesignated as an RTPO independent of WSDOT administration and has operated under its own leadership and organizational structure since July 1, 2019. PRTPO operates in accordance with its member bylaws (PDF).
Kitsap Transit is the Lead Planning Agency and Jefferson Transit is the Lead Fiscal Agent for PRTPO.
